Description
Meet Clay! Clay is a 6-year-old Terrier mix who has spent the last few weeks proving that sometimes the sweetest dogs just need a little time to feel safe. When Clay first arrived, the world felt like a pretty scary place. He was nervous in his kennel and unsure about new people and new experiences. But once he was given patience, kindness, and a chance to decompress, his true personality began to shineâand it's absolutely worth the wait. Today, Clay is a friendly, affectionate boy who enjoys greeting people and seeking out attention from his human friends. While he still appreciates a gentle approach and isn't a fan of sudden movements, he's come a long way in building trust and confidence. Watching him blossom has been one of the shelter's favorite success stories. Clay walks beautifully on leash and enjoys getting out to explore. He's also discovered one of his favorite hobbies: playing fetch! Toss a ball, and you'll quickly see his playful side emerge. What started as a nervous dog hiding in his kennel has turned into a fun-loving companion who lights up when it's time to play. While Clay enjoys affection, he does best with people who understand that trust is built through patience. Because fast movements can still make him uncomfortable, he'd likely be happiest in a home without small children where his boundaries can be respected. When meeting other dogs, Clay is polite but independent. He'll happily walk over for a quick sniff and introduction, but he's generally more interested in doing his own thing than finding a wrestling partner. A dog-to-dog introduction is recommended for any potential canine roommates. Clay's story is a reminder that some of the most rewarding dogs aren't the ones who immediately steal the spotlightâthey're the ones who slowly open their hearts and let you in. Now that he's learned the world isn't so scary, Clay is ready to find a forever family who will continue helping him thrive. In return, he'll offer loyalty, companionship, and plenty of games of fetch.Could Clay be the missing piece of your family?
