Description

Hatch Date - approx 2000 Bailey is a super sweet, 26-year-old, suspected male Senegal. Bailey does well in a home with other birds, but since his lifelong partner Lula, passed away, he doesn’t seem to mind being the only bird in the house either.  He loves to ride around on your shoulder, get scritches, or just hang around on his cage and listen to the radio. Occasionally, he will do a wolf whistle and he loves to imitate household noises (the microwave beep, the vacuum turning off, and he has even meowed since he used to live with cats.) Like all birds, he can be loud when he wants attention, so he might not be suited for apartment dwellers. Bailey loves dried fruits, cashews, peanuts, and the occasional bit of egg as a treat. He has been on a seed diet his whole life but his foster family recently introduced dried greens which he seems to enjoy. Despite his age, Bailey is still very active and playful. He loves nothing more than being part of the action of his foster family.  He has bitten in the past (likely as a jealousy/hormonal response when Lula was alive), so he would not be the best bird for a family with young children. His favorite person is his foster moms brother, who comes to visit on the weekends, but during the week he is content to be with his foster mom and has not bitten anyone since Lula’s passing.  Bailey is a spunky guy looking for the perfect retirement home that understands his needs and can give him all the love and attention he deserves. Bailey has been disease tested for PBFD and Chlamydia.  Bailey is being fostered in Bloomfield, NJ.  He will only be adopted into a forever home within driving distance.   We will NOT ship our birds.   For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA.  We do not have a central location. Bailey is living in a volunteer's private home.  We only allow approved applicants to make visits.   If interested in adopting Bailey, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org  Please read our adoption policies & procedures, and complete an adoption application.
