Description

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Arya #1 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 72 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Arya | 2-Year-Old Chihuahua | Quiet Soul Learning to Trust Arya is a 2-year-old Chihuahua with a gentle spirit and a sweet, sensitive nature. Like her sister Vija, she arrived in foster care frightened and unsure of people. While she is still timid and needs time to feel safe, Arya has already made wonderful progress thanks to patience, consistency, and the support of the dogs in her foster home. Other dogs are incredibly important to Arya. She looks to them for reassurance, guidance, and confidence, and she has blossomed by following their lead. Because of this, she will need a home with at least one friendly, confident dog who can continue to show her the ropes. Arya also gets along well with cats. While she does not need to be adopted with Vija, the sisters share a special bond and would certainly enjoy continuing their journey together. Arya has a moderate energy level and absolutely loves to play. One of her favorite activities is racing around the yard with her canine friends, especially smaller dogs. Watching her run, chase, and play is a wonderful reminder that beneath her shy exterior is a happy, playful little dog who is learning how to enjoy life. While she enjoys spending time outdoors, leashes are still very scary for her. Walks can be overwhelming, so Arya will need a home with a securely fenced yard and an adopter who is willing to work on leash training slowly, patiently, and at her pace. She is also making good progress with house training. After initially relying on pee pads, she now does most of her business outside, though she still has occasional accidents as she continues learning. Arya is not the type of dog who will immediately climb into a stranger's lap, but for someone willing to give her the time and understanding she needs, she is incredibly rewarding. She is beginning to enjoy affection and human companionship on her own terms and continues to gain confidence every day. Arya would do best in a calm home with patient adults or older children who will allow her to settle in at her own speed. With love, encouragement, and a canine companion by her side, this sweet little girl is going to thrive.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $400. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 72 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.
