Butkus is a 1-year-old Plott Hound mix who is ready for adoption and looking for a fresh start with a patient, active family. This boy came from a difficult situation — his home is now condemned, and he had been left outside overnight before escaping the yard. With no safe place to return to, Butkus is now at the shelter ready to begin a new chapter.Butkus is very much still a young dog learning how to channel his big energy. He is strong, playful, and full of enthusiasm, and he doesn’t always realize his size. When he’s out, he can be very excited and jump up for attention in a full-body, “happy to see you” kind of way. He’s still learning manners and will benefit from continued training, structure, and consistency in a home environment.He is very social and extremely interested in other dogs and wants to play, but his excitement can be a lot at first. He’ll do best with guided introductions and a family willing to help him learn appropriate play and settle skills.Butkus is a young dog who missed out on structure and is now ready for someone to help him grow into his best self.
