Meet Serta This 8-year-old pittie mix has already been through so much this year, but through it all she has remained nothing but sweet, loving, and full of life.Serta arrived as a ROTUND stray on March 9th, 2025. Staff worked hard to help her begin her weight loss journey at the shelter, but what she really needed was a home environment—and thankfully, a foster stepped up for what staff lovingly called her “weight loss camp.” Before foster, Serta spent her days happily lounging in the offices, carrying toys around, and soaking up attention from everyone she met. She interacted well with dogs, tolerated handling all over, and despite being a little anxious at times, she always kept her happy spirit.Her foster absolutely adored her and shared:“Serta is an incredibly sweet, affectionate girl who loves being near her people and will happily follow you from room to room. She enjoys carrying around toys and stuffies, chewing on bones, going for walks, and soaking up attention. She’s potty trained, quiet in a crate, and happy to curl up either in her bed or yours.She did wonderfully with an 11-year-old child and was mostly well behaved around other dogs, though she may occasionally be protective of her personal space. A harness is recommended for walks while she continues working on leash manners.”Serta returned to the shelter on May 19th to be spayed, and during surgery staff discovered she was suffering from a severe pyometra—a life-threatening uterine infection. Thankfully, it was caught in time and she is now recovering.But now this sweet senior-ish girl is back in a kennel recovering when what she truly needs is a soft place to rest, heal, and be loved. Serta is looking for either a foster or forever home where she can continue her recovery surrounded by comfort instead of kennel walls.If you’re looking for a gentle companion who wants nothing more than to love her people, carry around her toys, and curl up beside you… Serta may just be your girl.
