*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Spot came to us from a cruelty case in Virginia, and while he was understandably timid when he first arrived, he is now much more confident and well-adjusted with each passing day. He doesn't yet know formal commands, but he is smart, treat-motivated, and absolutely ready to learn! With some patience, consistency, and a generous supply of his favorite freeze-dried liver treats, Spot will be eagerly soaking up everything you teach him. Speaking of treats, he'll warm right up to new people when they come bearing goodies, and he's been happily handled by all 12 members of his boarding facility staff — men and women alike — so he's making wonderful social strides! Spot is leash trained and comfortable in a 4x6 kennel. He enjoys both indoor and outdoor time, and his favorite pastime is leisurely strolling outside with his person, nose to the ground, sniffing every interesting thing along the way. True to his easygoing personality, he's not a digger, and his barking is limited to politely alerting you when the delivery truck or trash truck rolls by — a very respectable Pyrenees duty! One of Spot's most endearing quirks? He loves his bowl! When it's empty and he thinks someone might take it, he grabs it and trots off with it like a little treasure. It's the silliest, sweetest game! As for housemates, Spot will do well as an only dog, or he could thrive alongside a calm, laid-back female companion. The ideal home for this gentle giant is with someone who is experienced with large-breed dogs, who can offer a quieter environment, a 5-foot securely fenced yard, and a lifestyle that matches his relaxed nature. This dog travels with an Interstate Health Certificate required by the USDA confirming that all the above criteria have been met. Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues.
