Description

Meet Mya — affectionately known as “My-My.” Mya is a sweet and loving 8-year-old Yorkie/Shih-Tzu/Maltese mix with the gentlest soul. She absolutely adores everyone she meets — kids, men, women, cats, and other dogs. Her favorite thing in the world is simply being close to her people. Sadly, Mya’s owner was recently widowed and then suffered a broken ankle, making it impossible to properly care for her. Mya came to us needing quite a bit of medical care and TLC. At 24 lbs., she is significantly overweight for her size and had spent several weeks in a boarding facility before entering rescue. She was also suffering from severe yeast infections in both her ears and paws, which are still being treated. Despite everything she has been through, Mya remains incredibly sweet, affectionate, and trusting. Mya is currently on a special allergy diet and takes daily Apoquel for her skin allergies. Once she reaches a healthier weight and is medically stable, she will also need a sebaceous cyst removed from between her eyes. She still has a long road ahead before she will be ready for adoption, but we are committed to giving her the healthy and happy life she deserves.
