Red-eared sliders are hardy and fascinating pets. These aquatic turtles can live for 20-40+ years with proper care. They require a minimum tank size of 75 gallons, but they would thrive best in a pond set up. The best water temperature for them is between 75-80 degrees. They love to bask and need their basking area to be between 90-95 degrees. They also require UVB light on their basking area. They make for fun, sociable pets that need little handling and can do well with other similar sized turtles. They are also a great option for homes with allergies to pet dander.
