Hi! I'm Samba, a five-month-old orange kitten also known as Orange Kitty, Toasty (as in toasty marshmallow), and according to some admirers, the fastest cat in town.I started out as a speedy little guy who loved hiding and then zooming past unsuspecting humans at top kitten velocity. These days, I'm still full of energy and athletic talent. I excel at jumping, climbing, chasing toys, carrying them around, and performing what my foster human calls "kitten parkour." I've even mastered playing fetch already, which is pretty impressive for a young orange cat with a reputation to uphold.The most important thing to know about me is that I LOVE to play. I am 100% kitten energy and need a playful feline friend who can keep up with me. I especially enjoy playing with my sister, Foxtrot, and would love to be adopted with her. If that's not possible, I'll need a home with a younger, active resident cat who can show me the ropes and help burn off some of my endless energy. I get along well with my foster family's two adult cats and do a great job respecting their boundaries. I even do well with the neighbor's dog!When I'm in play mode, I prefer chasing toys to being held. Snuggles are for nap time! Once I've gotten my zoomies out, I'm a sweet, affectionate kitten who enjoys cuddling with my humans. I love people of all ages and am quickly becoming an expert at being my human's best friend. I'm also a pro at using the litter box and keeping myself clean and handsome.One thing my future family should know is that I tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). My mom was an outdoor cat who is FIV positive, and because I'm still a kitten, my positive test could mean I have FIV or it could simply be a false positive caused by antibodies passed on from my mom. I'll need to be retested at six months of age to know for sure. My adopter should be prepared for either outcome. Even if I am FIV positive, cats with FIV can live long, healthy, normal lives. Because FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, FIV-positive and FIV-negative cats can safely live together in stable, friendly homes.
