Description
Name: Iris Sex: Female Estimated Age: 3-4 years old Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd Mix Weight: About 35 lbs Lives With: Dogs, cats, kids and all people! Housebroken? She’s potty trained! Rescued from: North Carolina Story: Iris was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina with her eight healthy puppies. We are so happy to have them safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Iris is the perfect mix of loving to do active things, like walks and zoomies around the yard (she’d likely love to be a running or hiking buddy), but is also just as happy to chill out with you on the couch to watch TV or nap. She has a very sweet personality, and is very eager to please. She did great at the last adoption event, insisting on being the greeter for every new dog that arrived, and made some new human friends as well. She’s also been doing great with our cats, wanting to calmly sniff when allowed, but definitely avoiding them when they’re a little spicy. She’s been doing great in the house. She’s had no accidents and seems completely house trained. While she doesn’t proactively go in the crate, she happily settles in with her lambie and naps if you insist. Her favorite activity is playing chase the ball and then run around like a maniac with it — we’re still working on the return part of fetch :). She knows sit really well, and is getting pretty good at recall. She’s working on her leash manners, she’s a bit of a puller, but loves to go for walks and responds well to treats. In addition to her tennis balls, she likes soft squishy toys, with lambie being her favorite (she has one for upstairs and downstairs). She likes to gently mouth the toys or play a gentle game of tug of war. She definitely loves her humans, and is happy playing or chilling out with us, and will often follow around when we’re doing things around the house or in the yard. She’s a happy girl when she gets to lounge next to you on the couch. Overall she’s been a pretty perfect house guest, and we’re definitely going to miss her when she finds her forever home. The fee to adopt Iris is $475. That covers the cost of all her vaccines, the collar she’s wearing, and her care in her foster home. She’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines.
