Meet Precious Ruby, the black cat. Precious Ruby came to the Shelter after her previous guardian was unable to continue caring for her. In her most recent home, she spent the majority of her time outdoors home as she did not get along with the other resident cat. She was described as friendly, but independent by her previous guardian. Precious Ruby does have experience with children. Precious Ruby has acclimated nicely to the Shelter environment and is enjoying safe, indoor living. Staff observed that one she gets to know you, she head butts hands, rolls on side and is very affectionate. Precious Ruby is looking for a home with she can be the queen of her castle. Could that be with you? Precious Ruby's adoption fee is sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation's Leave No One Behind fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer than average for the right adopters to come along and bring them home.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
