Description
***Vonda is scheduled to be transported to New Jersey on Nov. 12th. She will be available for adoption at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes over the Nov. 14-15 weekend. An application for her adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Vonda and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the Rescue's number.*** Last January we were made aware of a female Chihuahua mix and some puppies that had been discarded on Vance Rd approximately four miles below SoCo Rescue. The mom to these pups was Vera, who has since found her home in New Jersey, and two of the pups were from another dog as they were Bully breeds. After spending a few hours in the cold weather late at night, and with the help of some volunteers, we were able to catch the mom and all of the pups. It's taken a while to get Vonda and two of her sisters (Vega and Vivy) ready to place for adoption as they are extremely timid. We're still working with the other two and hope to have them ready for adoption soon. We believe that part of the reason they are timid is due to their breed as some Chihuahua's are just naturally timid. While Vonda is timid and will coward away from people, she does allow us to pick her up and hold her without any aggressive behavior. She will sit calmly in our lap and seems to be getting better with each passing day. Because of her timid personality, we know it's going to take a very special person to offer her a new home, someone who is accustomed to dealing with very shy dogs. While Vonda may never be the "life-of-the-party" type of dog, we believe she'll eventually become less frightened of all things. We would think that a home with less commotion (no young children) would be best. Having another well-socialized dog in the home will be a bonus for Vonda. Vonda already been spay, received all of her first year vaccinations and de-wormings as well as being kept current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. She's also already been microchipped. She will also require additional house, leash and other basic training.
