Description
Petunia is a 3-year old, TICA-registered F7 Bengal cat that was surrendered to our rescue for peeing outside of the litter box after being declawed. Bengal cats are a cross between an Asian Leopard cat and a domestic cat, so they are both high energy and exceptionally intelligent. Behavioral issues are not uncommon when their energy and enrichment needs are not met. Petunia is a one-of-a-kind incredibly sweet and friendly girl. She can be shy and nervous around new people but once she learns to trust you, she is a true gem of a cat. Petunia is a very lovey, vocal cat. She adores spending time with her people and peering out of the window. She will talk to you all about her day and then snuggle up when invited for pets. While Petunia may not a lap cat (in true Bengal fashion), she is incredibly affectionate, vocal, and expressive. She likes to be high off of the ground so she says that plenty of cat trees and window perches are a must! TYPE OF HOME: Petunia would do best in a laid-back, quieter home with no children (or older children). She came from a home with another cat and older dog that she was very attached to, so she would likely do well in a home with more submissive cats and/or low energy and quiet dogs. She is currently back to 100% use the litter box after LOTS of patience and re-training, but her future family will need to know that this could be something that comes up throughout her life if she becomes stressed. We are looking for a family who will be understanding of her trauma and patient with her needs, and is willing to continue her dietary and behavioral requirements. SPECIAL NEEDS: Due to her anxiety and nervousness, she does require once daily Prozac. She is also declawed and requires sensitive paw litter. She is on WET FOOD ONLY with a mixture of prescription urinary and fresh, balanced home-cooked food. Bengals are a special breed for those who are willing to put the work into understanding them! Petunia is overall a very friendly, sweet, cuddly girl who has been through a lot in her short life and deserves all the patience in the world. Whoever her forever family is will be very lucky! All of our cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested for FIV/FELV , dewormed, and up to date on rabies and distemper vaccines If you are interested in adopting, please complete an Adoption Application form at www.locrami.com under How to Adopt.
