TRAVIS*

Description

Meet Travis, the black and white border collie lab mix. Travis arrived to the Shelter as a stray so we don’t know much about his life before now. We age guessed him at around 8 months old. Travis was initially unsure when he arrived at the Shelter but has been blossoming as time passes and he interacts with new people. As a youngster, Travis is still learning life skills and manners such as walking on leash as well as confidence building. New situations (such as meeting dogs), can make him uneasy. When interacting with people, Travis will clamor for attention. This can be overwhelming sometimes as he paws, jumps up and sometimes mouths. Adopters with young children are likely not a fit for Travis due to his interactions. Travis is looking for a patient adopter who will bond with him and help him gain confidence in new situations and interactions. A home with a dog may be a fit provided there is a slow, thoughtful interaction. All resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. Travis is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
