Description

Reggie is a 3 year old, 7 lb tiny love bug! He may be small but his heart is BIG! Quick Facts: Name: Reggie Breed: Maltese/Poodle mix Age: 3 years old Weight: 7 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes (prefers calmer dogs who match his energy) Good with Cats: Not tested, open to a meet and greet! Good with Kids: Yes, great with kids of all ages! Energy Level: Low-medium Fence Required: No Dog's Location: Raleigh, NC Medical Notes: Reggie has been diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a condition that affects the discs between the vertebrae of the spine. IVDD can range from mild discomfort to more significant mobility issues, depending on the severity. Reggie was diagnosed a few months ago and has responded very well to rest, laser treatments, and medication. His case is very mild, and our vet is optimistic about his prognosis. No lesions were seen on his spine during a recent X-ray, which is encouraging. Moving forward, the focus will be on mindful, controlled activity and ongoing monitoring to help maintain his progress. Our vet is optimistic that he will not require long-term medication as long as he continues to do well.  Dogs with IVDD can often live happy, comfortable lives with proper care, which may include maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding excessive jumping on and off furniture, and following veterinary recommendations. Reggie's future family will receive information about his specific needs so they can help keep him happy and healthy for years to come. About Reggie’s Breed: Our best guess is that Reggie is a Maltese/Poodle mixed breed. Maltese/Poodle mixes, often called Maltipoos, are known for their affectionate, people-oriented personalities and their intelligent, eager-to-please nature. They typically form strong bonds with their families and thrive on companionship, often preferring to be close to their favorite people whenever possible. Their small size and adaptable energy level make them wonderful companions for many different lifestyles. The ideal home for a Maltese/Poodle mix is one where they receive plenty of love, attention, and inclusion in daily activities. They do best with families, couples, or individuals who can provide companionship, gentle guidance, and regular exercise through walks and playtime. Many Maltipoos also appreciate a calm, predictable environment where they can feel safe, build confidence, and enjoy lots of cuddles with their people. What to Love about Reggie: At just 7 pounds, Reggie may be tiny, but his heart is absolutely enormous. This sweet 3-year-old Maltese/Poodle mix is looking for a patient, loving family who will give him the time he needs to settle in and show his true colors. Once he feels safe and secure, Reggie's favorite place is right by your side, or even better, in your lap! Reggie is a true cuddle bug who loves being held and showered with affection. He's doing great in his foster home, sleeps soundly through the night, and is both potty trained and crate trained. While he's been enjoying snuggling in bed with his foster family, his previous owner reports that he's also perfectly comfortable sleeping in his crate. Reggie can safely stay crated for a few hours when you're away, making him an easy companion for many households. Like many dogs experiencing a big life change, Reggie can be a little nervous at first. New noises and people entering a room sometimes startle him, and he tends to gravitate toward feminine energy initially. However, with patience, gentle reassurance, and a little time, he quickly warms up and becomes a devoted little shadow who loves being near his people. Reggie is wonderful with children of all ages and currently lives with both a male and female dog in his foster home. He gets along well with both, although he definitely prefers calmer canine companions over energetic playmates. With his own low-to-medium energy level, Reggie would thrive either as an only dog soaking up all the attention or with a laid-back doggy buddy who shares his relaxed outlook on life. He hasn't had the opportunity to meet cats yet, but he's certainly open to a meet-and-greet! Reggie has been diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a condition that affects the discs between the vertebrae of the spine. Reggie's condition is currently being treated and managed by the rescue. Dogs with IVDD can often live happy, comfortable lives with proper care, which may include maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding excessive jumping on and off furniture, and following veterinary recommendations. This precious little lovebug has so much affection to give and is simply hoping for a family that will see past his initial shyness and give him the chance to blossom. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will happily curl up beside you and love you with his whole heart, Reggie may be the perfect match! Reggie’s Ravishing Highlights: • 3 years old and weighs just 7 pounds of pure sweetness!  • Tiny body, enormous heart with enough love to share with everyone he meets.  • Professional cuddler who loves being held and snuggled close to his favorite people.  • Potty trained and crate trained, making him an easy addition to his future family.  • Sleeps great through the night and can relax comfortably in a crate when you're away for a few hours.  • A little shy at first, especially with new people and unfamiliar noises, but blossoms with patience and love.  • Fantastic with children of all ages and enjoys being part of a family.  • Gets along well with other dogs, especially calm, lower-energy companions who match his relaxed personality.  • Loves being near his people and will happily become your loyal little shadow once he trusts you.  • Easy-going, affectionate, and ready for forever, Reggie is searching for a patient family who will help him shine and love him just as much as he'll love them.
