Description

Meet Princess!  This 2-year-old little chihuahua mix spitfire is all jazzed up and ready to bring main character energy into her lucky new family's home. Weighing in at just 10 lbs (up from 8 lbs when she arrived, this curious, confident and fearless little girl is ready to join a loving family. Princess came to us from Puerto Rico where she was owned by an elderly woman and her daughter. Princess is healthy and happy and has adapted very easily to life in New England (with jackets). She has been in a home with bigger dogs and keeps right up with them on walks and demands playtime whether they like it or not.  To say that Princess is light on her feet is an understatement. She launches into Olympic level zoomies multiple times a day with zig zags, circles and hopping backwards in her routine. She will even dance on 2 feet! She is very affectionate towards the people in her foster home and enthusiastically greets new people. Cautious at first around new dogs, she easily makes friends after proper introductions. She has not been cat tested or around children yet. We think that she would do fine with dog savvy children over 8. She has shown some non-aggressive resource guarding around food and toys, so younger kids may not be a good fit. She is being fed separately from her foster siblings without any issues. Princess loves her stuffed toys and will initiate play with her foster siblings. She'd do well with lively playmate who was either submissive and willing to give her the lead or with a stronger dominant dog who would show her boundaries. She is pretty adaptable.  Princess is good in the car, enjoys her walks and while she loves being around her people, she is also content on her own. She has been sleeping in a crate with the door open in her foster home. She does not like the door to be closed, but with a bowl of water and a dog bed, she is content to sleep all night. Princess is working on potty training. She uses pee pads in a designated space in her foster home and accidents are becoming fewer and fewer as she learns the ropes. Princess is healthy, up to date on vaccines and spayed. She has a bald area on her tail which the vet referred to as stud tail. It stems from a gland that causes hair loss when a dog goes without neuter/spay for an extended time. It does not cause her any discomfort or issue.  Are you interested in offering this loyal, energetic party girl a safe and happy home? Please complete our adoption application.
