Meet new intake Maverick! Maverick is a 5 yo male medium coated GSD who was recently surrendered when his owner no longer had time for him due to his job. We are just getting to know him, so check back soon for updates, but here's what we can say so far. 1) Maverick is BIG. He weighs 90-95 lbs without being overweight. He's a powerful guy with minimal leash manners, so he is not ready for your grandma to take for a walk yet. Unless your grandma is a body builder or competes in the Senior X Games. 2) Maverick is HANDSOME. Holy moly what a striking dog. Please don't tell anyone, but I personally find female GSDs soo much prettier than the males. Maverick here may have just changed my mind. 3) Maverick has TESTICLES. They are also big but not particularly handsome, and they will be getting removed November 10th. Because he is intact and a mature adult, he has some typical boy behaviors. Namely marking and making my female GSD request I purchase a sign that says "my eyes are up here!" for when he gets a little too enthusiastic about sniffing her other end. 4) Maverick is FRIENDLY. Honestly this guy just seems to have a really nice temperament in general. He's met several new adults so far with no problems, willingly hopped in my truck, willingly goes in the crate, and has supposedly lived around other dogs and cats with no issues. He has not met kids with me yet, nor do I know if he was around any in his previous home. But other than his size nothing about him is giving a red flag for kids so far. Once he's vetted, I expect Maverick to make a really nice dog for someone looking to skip the the velociraptor phase of GSD development and settle right into having the most gorgeous good big boy on the block.
