Just 11 pounds. And already she's had more than her fair share of heartbreak. Lucy is a little Chihuahua mix who has found herself surrendered to a crowded shelter in Illinois  TWICE . As the shelter continued to fill, her chances of making it out were getting smaller. One of the shelter workers reached out and asked if we could help. How could we possibly say no? ❤️ Lucy's first family surrendered her because she wasn't a fan of being left alone in an apartment. She had some opinions about it, and unfortunately, the neighbors weren't too fond of hearing them. She thought she'd finally found her happily ever after with her next adopters, but another unexpected challenge came along. Their young grandchild hadn't yet learned the importance of respectful boundaries when interacting with Lucy, and once again, she found herself without a home. Now this sweet little girl is starting over AGAIN. But we're determined that this time, her next stop will be her LAST. Lucy can be a little timid when you first meet her, but give her a little time and she warms up quickly. She's a sweet girl who does well with other dogs and deserves a home where she can feel safe, understood, and loved. Lucy isn't looking for another temporary place to land. She's looking for someone who will make a commitment to her, respect her boundaries, and love her for all the years to come. She's been given two chances at forever.
