General info
Description
Meet Buddy, the 5 year old Newfoundland mix. Buddy came into the Shelter after his previous guardians were experiencing some life changes that prevent them from continuing to care for him. He was in his previous home for 4.5 years. He lived with two other dogs, who he got along with. He was good around children but a bit unaware of his own size â sometimes accidentally knocking them over. Buddy was interested in the cats in the home but theyâd run away from him. He was fine when left alone and would use the doggy door at his previous home. Buddy has been easy to take out and interact since his arrival at the Shelter. He does causal sniffing and has a spring in his step. Heâs met a female mastiff mix on leash and was polite. Any resident dogs should meet in the Shelter prior to adoption. Any felines in the home should be introduced in a slow, thoughtful manner. Buddy is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
