General info
Description
THIS mama is Lady Elaine Fairchild. She is a 7 1/2 year old female GSD/Lab/Bully mix with tons of personality! Don't let her imposing, um, size, fool you - she's nothing but a lap dog...who doesn't necessarily fit in your lap but...couch dog, that's it. She can easily fit on the couch beside you! Lady Elaine weighs in at around 90 pounds right now, but that number is changing as we speak! We expect her final weight will be somewhere in the 60 pound range, but she's going to need a little help getting there!Lady Elaine's story is a sad one to be sure. Adopted from Angels back in 2022, she turned up at the Mahoning County Dog Pound not so long ago as a stray. Her microchip contained the information of her original adopter as well as our shelter info. Her family was called, but it was discovered that her dad had passed away and before he did, gave her away to someone else. His widow couldn't remember who, and frankly, since they didn't come forward or seem to be looking for her at all, we figure it doesn't much matter. Poor lady had a dad that loved her and a home for over three years - only to find herself on the street, out of work, overweight, and locked up in a crowded shelter. Needless to say, we drove on over and picked up our girl and brought her home. We assume that Lady Elaine, having already lived in a home for multiple years, has decent house manners. Except we suspect she might could have been a bit of a counter surfer maybe? She got that extra food somewhere! No matter - she's not as athletic as she used to be and likely would just leave stuff like that alone. We believe that she is house trained, may be crate trained (she showed no issue riding in a crate), rode well in a car, and walks well on a leash. She knows how to sit, lay down, and shake hands. Someone worked with her, probably her dad, and they did a wonderful job. She does not seem super fond of other dogs, though not in an obnoxious way - she just doesn't seem thrilled with them. A single dog home is her best bet. We are totally unsure as to how she would be with cats but would be willing to show her some and see how she reacts. We would prefer to see her in an adult home or one with older teenage kids only. She's used to living with an older couple and isn't a huge fan of busy hullabaloo such as we have here at the shelter - you can just tell she craves a more respectable and quiet existence. She's past those types of shenanigans don't you know! Lady Elaine most definitely deserves another chance at a happy life. We can't be sure what she lost when she came to us back in 2022, but we know that she has suffered the loss of two homes since then - through no fault of her own. She doesn't want to be back here at a noisy shelter - she wants to be in a home, comfy on a soft bed, taking leisurely long walks with her folks, watching tv until bedtime. She has paid her dues, she has handled all of her losses, and its her turn to have an actual forever!Lady Elaine is currently available for adoption.
