Description

Looking for a puppy who knows his own mind and isn't afraid to tell you about it? Meet Fenrir, a striking 16-week-old, 25 pound German Shepherd mix who is ready to conquer the world—or at least your living room! Fenrir is not your average follow-the-leader puppy. Named after the legendary wolf, he brings a big personality in a growing body. He is wonderfully independent and loves to investigate his surroundings on his own terms. Fenrir is also quite the conversationalist; if he thinks dinner is a minute late or wants to let you know he’s figured out a new game, he will absolutely use his voice to tell you all about it. If you love having conversations with your dog, Fenrir is just right for you. But the best part about Fenrir is his intellect. He is whip-smart and profoundly food-motivated which makes a great combo for training. If you have a handful of treats, you have his undivided attention and oh boy is he ready to learn. He already thrives on puzzle toys, and anything that challenges his clever mind. Because he is so smart and independent, he does need an adopter who will provide structure and plenty of mental stimulation to keep that big brain busy. Fenrir is cat and dog friendly though he can play somewhat rough at times which may be too much for a cat. Fenrir is working on his potty routine. He still has accidents and will need continued training. He is, however, crate trained and will not have accidents in there as long as the crate is appropriately sized. Fenrir likes to stay close to his human so a fenced in yard is not required but is recommended to help with his zoomies and play time. He also needs help with his leash manners. Although he is great with kids, he can be jumpy at times and may knock littles over, so the rescue recommends he go to a home with either older children or a home with a confident handler that will lovingly correct him. If you are looking for a loyal, intelligent companion with a mountain of potential and a personality that will keep you laughing every day, Fenrir is your boy. He is at a wonderful stage of his life with puppy energy and a thirst to learn. Ready to add Fenrir to your home? Contact your adoption coordinator. If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org . Fenrir is being fostered in Murphy, NC (Southeast tri-state NC corner).
