Description

Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Weight: 10.5 lbs  Height: 10" at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes, Pierre is neutered. Adoption Fee: $1. Donations to Carolina Poodle Rescue are gratefully accepted. Fence needed? Preferred but not required. Pierre enjoys spending time outdoors, and a secure fenced yard would be wonderful. An unfenced home with a good walking and exercise plan will also be considered. Want To Know More About Me? Text Pierre to 864-441-9075 for my full story - we'll share everything you need to know! Here's Your Quick Peek: Pierre may be a puppy mill survivor, but nobody told him he's supposed to act like one! This happy, affectionate, thoroughly lovable little poodle greets people like old friends, loves to snuggle, and follows his favorite humans around as though being close to them is his full-time job. Pierre has decided that life is wonderful, people are wonderful, and he was clearly born to be spoiled! Please Note: Carolina Poodle Rescue requires a meet and greet where everyone living in the home - all people and all dogs - will come to our farm to meet dogs. This is non-negotiable. Please do not apply if you and your family can't make this commitment. Please note - if you want to skip the text and go straight to the application, you can find the link here: www.carolinapoodlerescue.org/application/ Must have: A loving, patient family who wants an affectionate little companion and is committed to managing Pierre's ongoing medical needs. Most importantly, his adopter must be willing to maintain his carefully controlled diet. Pierre has significant skin sensitivities, and dietary consistency is essential to keeping him comfortable and healthy. His family must also be prepared to provide ongoing veterinary monitoring, eye medication, and appropriate follow-up care. Exercise: Pierre enjoys gentle play, exploring his surroundings, and spending time with his people. He has a moderate energy level and doesn't require strenuous activity. His veterinarian has noted some stiffness in his hindquarters, so his exercise should be appropriate for his comfort and mobility. Best with: Someone who wants a happy, affectionate little shadow! Pierre loves people, enjoys snuggling, and would especially appreciate a home where someone is around frequently. He gets along well with smaller dogs and enjoys gentle play. A home with another friendly small dog could be lovely, but Pierre would also be delighted to be the center of someone's attention. Not ideal for: Families unable to maintain his special diet and medical care, or adopters looking for a medically low-maintenance dog. Pierre's caregiver reports that he prefers the company of dogs his own size over large or very active dogs. With calm large dogs he is happy and relaxed. We have a few standard poodle puppies right now and Pierre thinks they are pushy and overzealous.   Energy level: Moderate. Pierre is curious, playful, and happy without being excessively energetic. He enjoys activity but is equally delighted to settle in for a good snuggle. Pierre came to Carolina Poodle Rescue in March 2026 from a difficult breeding situation after his breeder passed away. He arrived weighing just 9.3 pounds, underweight and struggling with severe skin problems, infected ears, dental disease, and a long list of other medical challenges. It took months of veterinary treatment, careful feeding, and dedicated caregiving to help Pierre become the happy little fellow he is today. His skin has improved dramatically, and his veterinarian described his progress as a remarkable turnaround. Pierre's most important ongoing need is his diet. He currently eats a carefully controlled homemade mixture of ground turkey, sweet potatoes, carrots, and green beans. We are working on adding an appropriate nutritional balancer to make this a complete long-term diet. His skin has a history of severe allergic flare-ups, so he cannot casually share treats, table scraps, or other foods. Keeping his diet consistent is essential.  We do not know that Pierre must stay on this diet - he could do well on a Farmers Dog type or something equally preservation free. What we do know is he does not do well on anything with chicken.   Pierre also has a history of chronic ear inflammation, dry eye, and extensive dental disease. He has undergone significant dental treatment and will need continued dental monitoring. His eye care includes cyclosporine ophthalmic solution. At the current 1-800-PetMeds autoship price of $55.12 per bottle, with a bottle lasting approximately six weeks, this medication costs about $1.31 per day, or $40 per month. His veterinarian has also noted some stiffness in his hindquarters that should be monitored. Yes, Pierre is a bit of a medical hot mess! But he's also one of those dogs who reminds us why rescue is so rewarding. Despite everything he's been through, he is outgoing, affectionate, cheerful, and absolutely convinced that people exist to love him. Good with dogs: Yes, particularly small dogs. Pierre enjoys gentle play with smaller canine companions.  However, his very favorite playmates are humans.   Good with kids: Unknown. Pierre has not been sufficiently evaluated around children. Cats: Unknown. Pierre has not been cat tested. Fun fact: Pierre is a professional snuggler and a world-class Velcro dog! For a little fellow who spent his early life in a breeding situation, he has embraced the spoiled-pet lifestyle with remarkable enthusiasm. He doesn't seem to realize he ever had a difficult past. As far as Pierre is concerned, he was born to be adored!
