Sammy — From Chinatown's Streets to a Life Filled with Love Hi, I'm Sammy! I used to call the streets of San Francisco's Chinatown home, where kind people looked out for me and made sure I had food. When my feeders realized just how friendly I was, they knew I deserved a chance at a better life. That's how I found my way to Give Me Shelter! These days, I've happily traded the streets for soft beds, delicious meals, and all the comforts of indoor living. And let me tell you, I'm loving the soft life! I'm a gentle, sweet girl who can be a little shy when meeting new people. Loud noises and vacuum cleaners aren't my favorite things, and I prefer to get to know someone at my own pace. But bring a few Greenies, and you've definitely got my attention! Once I feel comfortable, I'll greet you with adorable little chirps and meows, happy to see my favorite humans. And oh, do I love affection! I'm a big fan of pets, face bunts, and chin rubs. I'll even arch my back into my signature "Halloween kitty" yoga pose to make sure you don't miss a spot! I also love perching on laps and legs, soaking up all the attention I can get. If you work from home, I'd make a wonderful office companion. Just don't be surprised if I rub my chin all over your laptop while you're trying to get things done! I'm also quite the playful girl. Feather toys bring out my inner hunter, and I love stalking and pouncing on them. One of my favorite games is a Greenies scavenger hunt. Just leave a little trail of chicken or salmon treats, and I'll happily track down every last one! When I'm not playing, you'll find me curled up in my heated cat bed, tucked into my cozy felt cat cave, or perched by the window watching birds and leaves flutter outside. I also take my manicures seriously and have a tall scratching post to keep my claws looking fabulous. I'm a foodie, too! My favorite meal is Weruva Pumpkin Jack Splash, although I'm always happy when it's time to eat. After spending my early life outdoors, I certainly appreciate having regular meals and a warm, safe place to call home. I'm comfortable around other cats with a slow, thoughtful introduction, but I'd also be happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. I do have one little medical detail to share. I was diagnosed with pillow paw (feline plasma cell pododermatitis) on my front right paw. I've been treated for it, but because it's an immune-mediated condition, it can sometimes flare up again. My future family will just need to keep an eye on my paw and make sure I get veterinary care if needed. I've come a long way from my days on the streets, and I'm ready for my next chapter. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who loves cozy naps, playful adventures, and plenty of pets, I just might be your girl.
