Description

Adopt Archie! He is a 6 yr old male Great Pyrenees mix (shelter listed him as St. Bernard mix). He is currently underweight at 75lbs, a healthier weight for him is around 90lbs. He has a fluffy coat that hides how skinny he is.  Archie is super friendly and loves to be near people. He is the best on-the-go companion, as he is happy to take long strolls and join you on a patio for lunch. He is a perfect gentleman, he doesn't pull on the leash and sits quietly at restaurants. He gets a lot of attention from strangers, and he loves it. We haven't seen him around children but he did enjoy watching them walk by on Halloween.  He is very smart and knows 'sit', 'stay', 'shake', and will go to his bed and 'stay' if asked. Archie does not beg for food. He takes treats very gently. He is the most curious dog, had to smell every corner of his foster home when he arrived.  Overall he is a quiet guy, doesn't bark at trash truck, tree trimmers, etc. He is happy to sit in the backyard and relax. He doesn't have much interest in toys, will take a bone but gets over it quickly.  He sleeps great through the night, and when he hears your alarm go off, he will come over and put his face by yours, as to say 'good morning.'  Archie was surrendered to a shelter with a long time dog companion. It is clear he wants to be around other dogs and to play. Shelter notes said he is not good with cats.  He does have separation anxiety. Another dog around does help, but shouldn't be left unattended together until they have established a good relationship. His anxiety may be due to being surrendered to a shelter where he had a hard time and was very stressed. However he promises to be well mannered if you take him with you on outings.  Shelter notes stated he did not do well crated and we can confirm, he immediately gets very nervous, drools, and tries to get out. However when the crate door is left open, he will go lay down in it. He is well mannered in the house overnight. He is potty trained.  Archie is a big lover that deserves a calm, consistent life.  He is neutered. Adoption fee is $250. He is currently in a foster home near Dallas / Ft Worth Texas.
