Description
Handsome Shadow can't wait to sweep you off your feet! Shadow is estimated to be around 5 years old, and he is a sweet boy who charms everyone with his affectionate, happy personality. Shadow is a very cuddly guy who would love to sit with you on the sofa, your favorite recliner, or patio swing, where he’ll snuggle right in. He got the name Shadow for his beautiful dark gray coat, but also because he follows his foster mom around, soaking up all the attention he can get. Shadow weighs about 10lbs. Shadow came to us from an overcrowded animal shelter in Central California. He came in as a stray and was never claimed by an owner. Due to chronic overcrowding, Shadow was at risk of euthanasia. We were more than happy to save him, and he has been thriving in foster care. Shadow is a moderate-energy guy who would be a great companion for someone who works from home or is retired. He loves nothing more than hanging out with his foster mom and makes a great walking buddy. He is a social guy who walks up to new people with a wagging tail - eager to be their friend. His favorite activities also include pulling toys out of the toy box, exploring the backyard, and napping in the warm sun. He has good house manners, but doesn't seem to have been taught things like "sit" and "down", so will need to continue working on that in his new home. Shadow has been doing well living with other small dogs, but also seems like he could be content as an only dog. We haven't seen Shadow around cats, but he may do well living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Shadow could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older. Shadow is house-trained, but is recently neutered, so he should be supervised inside until his male hormones have decreased. Shadow is crate-trained. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and is fine being left in his crate for short periods while you are out during the day. With proper exercise, Shadow may do well living in an apartment. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
