Description
***Grey is currently at our rescue in GA. He is scheduled to be transported to NJ on Nov. 12 and be available for adoption over the Nov. 14-15 weekend. An application for Grey's adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Grey and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the Rescue's number.*** In Aug, 2026, Grey was surrendered to our rescue after he'd been bitten at least three times in his face by a snake. While it's obvious that the snake wasn't venomous, the bites did cause Grey's face to become extremely swollen and the infection that had already started to set in was taking a toll on his body. Scott Bennett took personal care of Grey, and spent countless hours tending to his injury. Grey ended up loosing a big chunk of dead skin on the right side of his face. While he has now fully recovered and looks much better than we had expected, he does and most likely always will, has some scarring present. Grey is truly a wonderful dog who loves playing with other dogs, no matter their size or breed. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, but he is very timid. He wasn't always so timid, according to his former owner, so his condition could be due to the aftereffects of the snake bite. He'll shy away from people, even those that he's become very acquainted with, but does allow us to walk him on a leash, pet him and even pick him up. Loud noises, sudden movements and changes do scare him, so a gentle, slow approach towards Grey must be made. (Scott will be more than happy to give more details to any potential adopters.) Grey's ideal home would have to be calm and without a lot of commotion (no young children, etc.) Having another dog that is friendly and well-socialized as well as an adopter who is truly experienced dealing with a very timid dog is also required. Grey will not be the type of dog that you'll take to dog parks, etc. and is considered as a "special needs" dog, requiring a bit more patience and understanding than most dogs. But he will definitely touch your heart in ways that you'd never imagine. Grey has already been neutered, fully vaccinated and de-wormed on regular intervals. He's been kept up to date on his flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, even recently testing negative for heartworms. He is crate trained and doesn't relieve himself while crated; he appears to have some natural house training ability, but may need a refresher course once in a new home.
