General info
Description
OTHER PETS: Dutton is anxious meeting other dogs, starting off hackled and stiff but does relax by shaking off ending the interaction; he would do well as an only pet but could also do well with a low-key, well socialized dog. Dutton should meet any dogs he would be living with prior to adoption. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Experience with positive reinforcement, or willingness to learn will be his best fit. Dutton is a younger dog who has learned a trick or two, but will benefit from ongoing learning with someone who is patient and willing to expose Dutton to the world at his pace. [Some Experience] KIDS: Dutton is social and playful, enjoying running around with people a little more than running around after toys. He has not exhibited signs of resource-guarding while at TJO, and settles well after play, but is jumpy and sometimes rough during play. While he is not aggressive to people, his tendency to jump at his young age does not make him a good fit for a home with small humans. He would do will with children who know how to be respectful, and when to give him space. Minors and children must be actively supervised so everyone is safe and comfortable. [13+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Dutton will need a combination of regular exercise combined with mental enrichment such as food puzzles, games, sniffing, and learning fun tricks to meet his needs and prevent boredom. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement will help Dutton bond with his new owner and build confidence while learning new skills and fun tricks. Building confidence, through learning and having fun, is a great way to open up a variety of activities and outings. [Ongoing]
