This handsome Labradoodle came from the same property as our recent doodle mixes, Henrietta and Steve. After their neighbor, who bred doodle mixes, was jailed, several dogs were left abandoned on the property. A caring family who found the dogs reached out for help, and when Animal Control removed the remaining dogs, Worthy Dog Rescue was asked to step in. Scottie had been living outside, likely his whole life, with little to no veterinary care, and was covered in ticks when he arrived. He was a bit underweight, but thankfully, this young boy was otherwise healthy. Since coming into rescue, he's been groomed, neutered, brought up to date on veterinary care, and even tested negative for heartworm (!) Over the past few weeks, he’s settled into his local foster home, living as an only-dog with two adults, but has regular playdates wtih friends and family dogs. He's excellent with other dogs, loves to play, and will adapt to their level of play.  Home life is still new for Scottie, and while he’s timid, he’s improving daily. His foster mom, Michelle, is working with him to build confidence and help him adjust. She shared this update: “He's a very sweet boy who was timid at first, but now that he's had time to settle in, he's more engaged. He walks great on leash and has good house manners. He's still skittish with noises, but he's getting better at meeting new people and is learning to enjoy pets and attention. While he doesn't always seek it out, he definitely enjoys it." Scottie would do best with engaged adopters who have the patience to give him time to settle in. He does fine as an only dog, but would also benefit from a confident, social dog in his new home. He loves every dog he meets and is very friendly and adaptable. There’s not an aggressive bone in his body, and I can tell he's getting more comfortable. Sometimes he’ll run from us in the yard, but if I squat down, he’ll come over after a few minutes." This sweet boy is very gentle, sweet-natured, and eager to continue learning that people can be trusted. He'll do best in a calmer home with patient adopters who will give him the time and support he needs to build confidence and fully blossom into the wonderful companion we know he can be. Apply today!
