Description

Meet Gummy Worm, the tan and white scruffy terrier. Gummy Worm was found by a good Samaritan along with 5 other dogs. He was running down the road. Lucky for him, the person was able to safely contain the dogs and bring them into the Shelter for safety. Gummy Worm seems to be inexperienced with new people, places and things. He can be barky and worried with new people but softens with time and patience. He is still perfecting life skills and manners like potty training and leash walking so adopters should be patient in the transition. Positive reinforcement based training will help Gummy Worm to learn new things and bond with his new family. Gummy Bear has met other dogs at the Shelter, ones he knows and those unknown. He prefers not to share his favorite things (yummy food, toys and treats) with other dogs in small spaces. He may enjoy a canine companion in the home after a meet and greet at the Shelter. We do not have any history of Gummy Worm with cats or children. On Saturday, October 31st, the Shelter is celebrating Halloween through an “Adopt Your Boo” special. This dog’s adoption fee is reduced to $31.Gummy Worm is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
