Zara

Description

Zara came to the shelter from the city pound on 9/7/2026, after spending over 4 weeks there and more than fulfilling her legal stray hold. She looks to be mostly a pit bull type dog, and she is muscular and thought to be around 6 years old. She has been vet checked, spayed, and microchipped. In late October 2026, she underwent another surgery to remove a line of mammary tumors. All looks great with that and there is no sign of any cancer in her body. Her fee is $150. Zara is an absolute sweetheart who has won over our volunteers and the staff at the vet's office. She does seem to have had some basic training. We think she could be okay with a well mannered male dog but have no way of knowing about cats. Older kids would be best for her. She will need some regular exercise and enjoys a good cuddle, too. She would make a lovely companion! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
