What a sweet girl!! Roxy is such a sweet girl! She is a retired breeder, but that hasn’t stopped her from exploring her new surroundings and learning new things. Roxy will need another small dog in the home to help her continue learning how to be a dog. Her adoptive family must understand that she will need time to get comfortable with her people, but watching her progress will be incredibly rewarding. Being all dachshund, she will bark at strangers until she knows they are friendly and willing to give her some attention. Roxy is crate trained and uses a doggie door to go potty outside. She loves being outdoors, exploring all the smells, and is doing great walking alongside two big neighborhood dogs Our must-haves for Miss Roxy include: A fenced yard Another small dog to show her the way Someone who can be home more often than not No apartments, or high-rises she likes to bark An adopter with retired breeder dog experience is very helpful. This experience will aid in your understanding how cautions Roxy is and how to help her be the pet she can be. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
