Description

Fall in love with Scrappy, a happy and loving 18 lb Jack Russell Terrier Mix.  We know little about this boy’s back story.   He is believed to be about five years old.  Since coming into rescue, Scrappy has seemingly started to age backwards.  He has become more confident and comfortable in his foster home and recently he started to show an interest in toys.  He likes to carry small soft toys around in his mouth and will happily show you how good he is at fetch.  This guy wants to be wherever his favorite human is and will follow you room to room to make sure that you are safe.   Scrappy walks well on a lease and enjoys short walks around the neighborhood.  More about Scrappy:  This boy is a nice age, past his puppy years but many years ahead of him.  He doesn’t need long walks to tire him out but does enjoy a couple bouts of play time and short walks throughout the day.  He gets very excited when his favorite human returns home and will bark and jump to show just how excited he is.  Scrappy also seems to believe that he is your private security detail and will quickly inform you if anyone enters the house.  Scrappy sleeps quietly in his crate overnight and is house trained.   He would be happy to be your one and only canine companion or join a family with similarly inclined canines, and he absolutely adores his foster’s cat. Scrappy’s Needs:  Scrappy came into rescue positive for lyme disease and is continuing an extended round of antibiotics.  Scrappy’s teeth are in need of some attention and he has a dental surgery scheduled for mid-November.  Finally, it is believed that he has a tear in his left ACL and we have been treating with pain medications.  So far, Scrappy has reacted very well to the pain medications and is using both legs to ambulate without any apparent discomfort.  Our veterinarian has advised that some small dogs can live out their days without any surgical intervention but the adopter needs to be aware of this condition.  Scrappy has stolen the hearts of his foster family and we are excited for him to find his forever home! Scrappy is available for adoption through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA 15144 KL#16182.
