Opal

Description

There is a saying about old souls: "Old souls feel more deeply, suffer more nearly, see more clearly, love more freely and heal more completely." This is Opal in her entirety. She is a middle aged lady who has seen and been through more than any cat ever should. Living on the streets, losing her kitten to sickness, being adopted then returned, dealing with chronic pain, working through PTSD and still looking for someone to love her furever.With all this hardship, Opal has some wariness when she meets new people, but given some space (and LOTS OF TREATS) she opens up to show her sweet self. Opal adores all kinds of food, but especially kitten food! She loves being brushed and getting all the cheek scratches, and once she has settled in, she loves being carried around like a baby; never wanting to be far from you. She will come on over if you do the "pspspsp" noise and hold your hand out, oor if you simply call her by name. She is ever the curious girl and believes all spots are good spots for a nap. In opposition to her old soul, Opal talks; A LOT! Everything from chirps to moans to meows and even some rather creative use of hissing and growling! But no worries, she isn't mad, she just really likes making any noise she can to get your attention; she certainly likes knowing where her foster parent is so feel free to chat with her all day long! Opal does have some mild arthritis in her toes from years of living in a crate, but she never lets it stop her from climbing on all the cat trees and shelves she can. And don't be fooled by her old lady vibes, Opal is a HUGE fan of wand toys and will run after them with the vigor of a kitten. She likes having her litter box pretty spick and span too, so providing a few has made her quite the happy girl. Speaking of litter, fine litter is preferred so as not to hurt her arthritic toebeans. And boy, anything soft is welcome! Beds, blankets, pillows galore! If it isn't soft enough, Opal will make a little nest of her own fur until it is to her liking; it's okay though, she just likes being surrounded by her own smell and acting like a bird... she is a bit silly that way.Opal needs a home that is quiet and gentle, full of other old souls, and would be best either solo or with another chill cat. She would prefer few people in the home and no kids. Her previously chaotic life, full of so much sadness and things outside of her control, Opal requires consistency and routine so she can feel safe and secure. Is Opal the old soul you have been looking for to join your gentle life?
