Description
Location: Yorktown, VA Meet Jolene ❤️ Say hello to Jolene! She’s a purebred Australian Cattle Dog and the prettiest red-and-white girl, complete with a solid red spot on her right side and another on her behind. She is 3.5 months, born on 07/27/26. Jolene and her brother were dumped together and brought into rescue, and now this sweet girl is looking for a forever home of her own. When I first met Jolene, she was very skittish and unsure of the world around her. Breaking through that shy exterior took time, patience, and trust. But little by little, she started to come around. Now, she’s become incredibly attached to me, and watching her confidence grow has been so rewarding. She may still approach new people and situations slowly and cautiously, but underneath that shy exterior is a dog with so much love to give. Jolene has no aggression in her, and she does wonderfully with other dogs. She enjoys the company of pups and does especially well learning from another confident dog. Having a friendly canine companion in her forever home could help her continue building confidence and feel more comfortable as she learns and explores. She’s good with kids, but younger children can sometimes overwhelm her, so a home with children ages five and up would be ideal. This sassy lovebird has been in the car and prefers to ride in your lap. This girl has a personality all her own! She loves going on walks, playing with other dogs, digging for moles, watching birds, and playing with her toys. She also knows basic commands, but fair warning: Jolene believes every good decision deserves a yummy reward! She loves food, and positive reinforcement is the way to her heart.Jolene is a smart girl who enjoys mental enrichment and neurological exercises. She has so much potential and would thrive with someone willing to continue working with her, building her confidence, and helping her learn. As an Australian Cattle Dog, she needs an active home that can give her both physical exercise and mental stimulation. Her ideal home would have a securely fenced backyard or plenty of safe, spacious property to explore, along with someone who has the time and dedication to continue her training and work toward reliable off-leash skills. She has not been tested around cats, so that’s something to keep in mind.Jolene is still working on house training. She has occasional accidents, but she knows her potty spots are on the training pads and is continuing to learn. With consistency, patience, and a routine, she’ll need a family willing to keep helping her succeed.Jolene may not be the kind of dog who runs up to every stranger with her tail wagging. She’s a girl who needs a little time to feel safe. But once she trusts you, that bond is something special. By the time she is adopted she will be dewormed 2 times and fully vaccinated. She is also microchipped. She will be on a spay contract. And will need routine vet check ups. She deserves a family who will see her potential, respect her boundaries, keep her mind busy, and give her the security she may have never had before. She didn’t get to choose how her story started, but she deserves a say in how it ends.
