Description

Meet Franklin! This handsome 1-year-old Lab mix weighs about 60 pounds and is a sweet, playful guy with lots of energy and an enthusiasm for life. Franklin loves toys, especially his Kong, tug-of-war, Benebones, and long-lasting chews. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and even puts himself to bed in his crate when he is ready to settle down!Franklin is a smart, active boy who needs an adopter committed to providing plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, structure, and consistent boundaries. He loves to run and is treadmill-trained. Nose-work games are another great way to help him use his brain and burn off energy. Franklin is still working on impulse control and manners, so he will benefit from someone who can provide consistent guidance, routine, and positive reinforcement to help him become the best version of himself.Franklin loves having a canine companion! A confident, balanced, even-tempered resident dog would be a wonderful addition to his new home, as he enjoys having a playmate who can also help him learn to relax. He even prefers his crate to be next to his dog friend. However, a resident dog is preferred rather than required, and Franklin may do well as the only dog with the right support and structure. His compatibility with cats is unknown.Franklin's biggest challenge is being alone. He has separation anxiety and takes medication to help manage it. When left alone, he may bark incessantly, particularly if he does not have something appropriate to chew. He needs an adopter who understands separation anxiety and is prepared to continue working with him on it. A home without shared walls is required because of his barking when left alone.Franklin is a big, boisterous boy who can be a little too enthusiastic, so he needs a home with no children under 13. With the right match, consistent guidance, plenty of activity, and a canine buddy, Franklin has so much potential to grow into a wonderful companion. If you are looking for an active dog to join you on adventures and are ready to help him work through his challenges, Franklin may be your guy!If you are interested in Franklin, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450.
