Description

* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 24th from 12PM – 3PM (unless adopted prior to the event).  3910 Middlefield Road All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $650 Pebbles: A Little Gem with a One-of-a-Kind Coat   Some treasures weigh just 9 pounds. Meet Pebbles, a 10–12 month old Chiweenie with a striking merle coat, a sweet disposition, and a growing appreciation for the good life. With her beautiful markings and happy little tail wags, she’s certainly eye-catching—but it’s her affectionate personality that makes her a real find.   A Little Trust, a Lot of Tail Wags   Pebbles was a bit timid when she first arrived in her foster home. Once she realized she was safe, her happy-go-lucky side began to shine. Now, whenever her foster approaches, she offers an enthusiastic tail wag. While exploring, she likes to keep her trusted person in sight—there’s plenty to investigate, but it’s nice to know your favorite human is nearby.   She enjoys being held and cuddled and is happy to settle in for some quality lounging. There’s a playful puppy side to Pebbles, too, with little bursts of excitement that add some fun to the day. Her overall pace, though, is quite manageable: a good walk, some affection, and a comfortable spot to relax make a lovely itinerary.   Her Daily Bedrock: Breakfast, Sniffing, Snoozing   Pebbles wakes between 7 and 7:30 a.m. and heads outside for her first potty break before breakfast. She takes a leisurely approach to dining, grazing on her meal and usually finishing within an hour or two. No need to rush when you have a full day of lounging ahead.   She enjoys a one-mile neighborhood walk each morning, walking nicely on leash and taking time to investigate the local scents. Afterward, she’s content to relax while her foster family works, with potty outings every two to three hours and a few treats sprinkled throughout the day.   Dinner arrives between 5:30 and 6 p.m. At about 10:30 p.m., Pebbles settles into her crate and sleeps soundly through the night. Beauty sleep clearly agrees with her.   A Peaceful Little Housemate   Pebbles shares her foster home with an 11-year-old, 18-pound female Terrier. The two coexist peacefully, with some polite sniffing and plenty of respect for each other’s space. So far, their relationship is more “pleasant roommates” than “wrestling partners.”   She hasn’t had direct introductions to other dogs or cats in her foster’s care. She met a cat at the DPS Safehouse and was polite with her, but has not lived with a cat full time.  Pebbles also hasn’t met children while in her foster home. Her foster describes her as gentle and thinks a family could be a good fit; thoughtful introductions and children who can handle a tiny dog kindly would help her feel comfortable.   Small Dog, Lovely House Manners   Pebbles has been doing wonderfully with a consistent potty routine. After just one or two accidents when she first arrived, she has remained accident-free with outings every two to three hours. Her new family should continue that schedule as she settles in. She hasn’t learned to use a doggie door.   She sleeps well in her crate, hasn’t shown destructive behavior, and hasn’t been a constant barker in her foster home. Although she enjoys moments of playfulness, toys and fetch haven’t captured her interest yet. For now, sniffing, cuddling, and keeping her people company seem to be much more her style.   A Gem Looking for Her Setting   Pebbles would love a home with someone who wants a sweet, lovable companion woven into everyday life. She doesn’t need an elaborate entertainment schedule to enjoy herself. A neighborhood stroll, gentle affection, a predictable routine, and somewhere cozy to lounge go a long way with this little girl.   Her foster says she’s been relatively easy to care for once they learned her habits. Give her a little time to build trust, and you’ll get to see the happy tail wags, cuddly moments, and cheerful personality that have made her such a pleasure to foster.   If your days could use a little more companionship—and your lap has room for a nine-pound treasure—Pebbles just might be your precious find.
