Wherever her person goes, Ruby is right there, happily tagging along, keeping company and making sure no one ever has to do anything alone. Here on our little farm in Western North Carolina, Ruby starts her mornings at 4:30 AM helping with barn chores before clocking in as my office assistant, where she spends most of her workday snoozing beside my desk. She's excellent company, even if her productivity is questionable! At 80 pounds, Ruby is a big girl, but she's surprisingly light on her feet! And one of the wonderful perks of being a Bouvier is that she's an extremely low-shedding dog. You'll find very little loose fur around the house, although her beautiful, fluffy coat does need regular grooming to stay healthy and comfortable.Ruby loves a predictable rhythm to her days. She's a sensitive girl who blossoms with consistency, gentle reassurance and a stable, loving environment. She's had extensive training and knows her commands, but what really helps her shine is knowing what to expect and feeling secure with her people. And Ruby needs a partner in fun! At 7 years old, she's still learning some of the joys of just being a dog, and it's been so sweet watching her discover them. She takes her cues from other dogs, looking to them for confidence, reassurance and a little guidance on how to have fun. A friendly, confident dog who initiates play and invites her along brings out the most wonderful side of Ruby. She doesn't just need a playmate. She needs a buddy to share life with, learn from and pal around with.Ruby currently shares her days with our 6-year-old daughter, who adores her, along with dogs, cats, chickens and donkeys. She's wonderful with children, loves her dog friends, ignores the chickens and is gentle with the donkeys. The cats occasionally have to remind her about personal space!Ruby is a homebody at heart, but that doesn't mean she doesn't love being active! She's happiest playing, exploring and spending time with her people and dog friends in familiar surroundings. Ruby is very leash reactive, and daily walks or outings into the unknown simply aren't her idea of fun. What she needs is a home with a securely fenced space where she can move, play and enjoy life without having to leave the comfort of the world she knows. A farm isn't necessary, just a stable, loving home where she can be active and feel safe.Ruby's perfect world isn't complicated. A loving family, a playful dog friend, familiar routines and plenty of ordinary moments together. We're hoping to find that wonderful forever home where Ruby can settle in, feel secure and be someone's beloved shadow for years to come.Located in Western North Carolina. We'd love to hear from anyone who thinks Ruby might be their girl! Contact Cassie today at cassiem317@gmail.com or 828-280-1025 to meet or learn more about Ruby!
