Description

Hi!  My name is Aimee and I am looking for a forever home.  I was turned into a really scary place called a shelter and my owners told them that I had disappeared for a week and showed back up with half of one of my back legs missing and they couldn't afford to care for me.  Fortunately, an employee w/ the shelter contacted a small local rescue who immediately got in touch w/ BCAA to see if they could help her and they said yes!  Well, when I got to my foster's home it was quickly determined that what might have happened to me didn't occur in just a week (it was also learned I was kept outside all of the time).  It is speculated that due to the extreme matting I had that the circulation had been cut off to that leg which might have caused me to chew it trying to relieve the pain.  The vet who saw me agreed and I was placed on antibiotics for a couple of days and then had the leg removed.  Lucky for me, by this time I was already used to getting around on 3 legs so I was back to running around in no time and boy, do I feel so much better!  The vet feels I am about 4 years old and at my last weigh-in I was 5.69lbs.  I do love my food and treats so I might gain a little bit but  I should probably stay under 6.5lbs.  I am a happy girl who, while I will be a little scared when I first meet new people & going into new situations, it doesn't take me no time to decide if you're safe and then I love getting attention.  I have met lots of different size dogs in my foster home and I was a little skeptical of them at first and would do a little growl at them, now I'm doing my best to get one of the ones about my size to play with me.  I am pretty good on a leash once I knew I can trust you.  I am ok in a crate in that I will cry a little if I see you to see if I can get you to come let me out but otherwise I'm pretty quiet.  If you would like to more about me or meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.
