TOP HAT*

Description

Meet Top Hat - a 4 year old male tuxedo who came dressed to impress. He has previously lived as an indoor only cat who used his litterbox reliably. Top Hat has some history in his life of being around other felines but not in the recent history. A home with other cat-friendly cats may be a fit with a slow, thoughtful introduction. Top Hat does not have any history with dogs but may do well with the right dog, transition period and introduction. Top Hat is looking for a cat-savvy adopter that will take time to get to know Top Hat and his behavior to see how he communicates. He can sometimes expererience overstimulation. This is a common feline thing - when a cat has had a bit too much stimulation (pets, play, etc). Kitties will sometimes communicate this by putting their ears back, twitching their tail or rippling their back. Overstimulated cats need a break to calm down. Living with a kitty who experiences this is manageable provided you take a look at their body when interacting and act accordingly. Top Hat may enjoy a catio set up for enrichment!Top Hat's adoption fee is reduced by $20 thanks to the Bogey Fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards often overlooked black cats in Shelters. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
