MOWGLI*

Description

Meet Mowgli, the 7 year old Australian Shepherd mix. Mowgli arrived to the Shelter as a stray so we don’t know about his life before the Shelter. He has been observed to be affectionate and easy going since his arrival. He arrived very dirty but has gotten a bath since his arrival. Staff have observed that Mowgli shows signs of being potty trained – holding it until he goes outside. This gentle guy met a few dogs at the Shelter. He seemed to be more on the same page with Luna, an older husky mix, and engaged in some sniffing with her on leash. When meeting a younger 6 month old dog, Mowgli was tolerant but not ready to play into his puppy antics. Mowgli may do well in a home with a mellow, coexisting dog or may prefer to be the only pup. He is very people focused and engaging. We do not have any history of Mowgli with children or other animals. Mowgli is available for pre-adoption. Come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
