Description
Doug is a 2-year-old male Shih Tzu who came to us from a shelter when his life was in serious danger. He arrived as a matted, foul-smelling mess—his ears plastered flat against his head from infection and pus. We rushed him to the vet, where he was shaved around the ears and treated for severe ear and skin infections. We carefully worked through the remaining mats and got him cleaned up. It became clear he had likely been attacked in the past, as his body was covered in scabs. One of his eyes had never fully developed, leaving him essentially blind in that eye. The vet recommended removal, so Doug underwent both a neuter and enucleation (eye removal) surgery. He is recovering beautifully and is finally starting to act like a happy, normal dog. Doug loves playing with toys and gets along well with other dogs. As a Shih Tzu, he will need regular grooming to stay comfortable and healthy. Doug has already overcome so much—now he just needs a patient, loving home ready to give him the care and stability he deserves. Adoption fee is $400 which helps cover all of the medical for all of the dogs in the rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and many have received further treatment for such conditions as lump removal, severe ear infections, dental cleanings, bloodwork, leg injuries, etc.. We do out of state adoptions but require a submitted application, a home visit (sometimes we cannot get this done and then we can not adopt), and the adopter must come to Las Vegas to meet the potential dog(s), possibly adopt, and then drive the dog back. Disclaimer: The SNBRF has the right to deny applications based on our adoption policies established for the consideration of the health, safety, and well-being of the dog. Beagles can have a lifespan of 15-18 years. Therefore, beagles or any other breed who are under 3 years of age will NOT be adopted to anyone over the age of 62. For individuals who are 70 years of age and older, the dogs must be 8 years or older
