Description

Update 10/8 Uno has made amazing progress! While he still takes a little extra work to get him out of the kennel, he recently spent a few days out of the shelter in a home with adults, teenagers, and a young child and is reported to have done well. He is open to meeting other dogs! Update 9/26 Two of our staff members were actually able to get him out of his kennel today!! This is a big step for him, and we're feeling hopefully he'll be able to make it into a rescue, foster, or adoptive home ASAP!Though he is still a challenge to get out of his kennel (we believe due to a constant state of fear and stress in the kennel environment), once they were able to get him outside, they took him to a play yard for a bit. Here the dog displayed loose body language, panting with tongue hanging out, would run to end of yard and bounce back, rolled onto back showing belly on dog bed. After about 5 minutes, dog began walking up to staff, took a few treats out of their hand, allowed for a few pets, walked away, then walked back and asked for some more petting. Dog sat on their feet and leaned against thier legs, allowed to be pet on face and when they stopped, he re-consented, leaning his head into thier hand. His owners reached out to us, and though they can not take him back, they shared that, `He is a very very loving dog, he is a big teddy bear and loves belly rubs and head kisses.` They think he is probably very scared because he isn't used to being around other dogs at all and has been fearful of people he doesn't know. They shared that he loves bones and sharp cheddar cheese. In their home, he was good with their kids & babies.Interested in helping Uno?Adopters: Visit the shelter any day between 1:00–5:30 PM to meet this pet, or email our Adoption Team for more information or to schedule an appointment.Fosters: Email our Foster TeamRescue Organizations: Email our Rescue Team
