This 10–12 month old Spaniel/Dachshund mix brings a delightful blend of playful energy, affectionate companionship, and the ability to settle down for a good nap.  Friendship Is Her Favorite Thing   Persimmon loves people of all ages and has been very friendly with children and other dogs. She enjoys following her foster around the house, keeping an eye on the day’s activities without demanding constant attention. Wherever you’re headed, she’s happy to come along and see what’s happening.   Her resident canine companion has become her best friend. Their daily agenda includes chasing each other, playing, sunbathing, and taking companionable naps. It’s a full schedule, but these two professionals make it look easy.   Persimmon does occasionally notice if her friend is getting pets without her. Her preferred solution? One hand for each dog. She believes humans were conveniently designed for this exact situation.   A Daily Dose of Sunshine   Persimmon wakes around 7:30 a.m. and heads into the backyard for a potty break before breakfast. During the day, she spends time in the kitchen with access to the backyard, choosing between indoor relaxation and outdoor adventures with her best buddy.   Morning and evening walks give her a chance to explore the neighborhood, meet other dogs, and investigate all the interesting smells. After a day of play and lounging, she sleeps through the night in the kitchen, where she also has backyard access.   She is fully housetrained in her foster home and has been very well behaved when left alone. Her foster hasn’t observed separation anxiety, and she handles time apart comfortably.   Play Hard, Nap Well   Persimmon can be lively and energetic when it’s time to play, then happily switch gears for quiet time. She’s just as capable of enjoying a peaceful afternoon as she is of participating in a spirited game of chase.   She loves walks and meeting other dogs. She doesn’t bark at people or cars, though her enthusiasm can lead to some leash pulling—particularly when a squirrel enters the picture. Continued practice and rewards for walking beside her person will help her polish those leash manners.     Keeping That Red Coat Radiant   Persimmon’s beautiful coat needs consistent care. Being combed isn’t currently her favorite activity, so short, gentle sessions paired with treats will help her become more comfortable with grooming. A little patience will go a long way toward making coat care a pleasant part of her routine.   Ready to Put Down Roots   Persimmon could be a wonderful addition to a family with children or an adults-only household. She has especially enjoyed having a friendly dog to share her days with, and her mix of affection, playfulness, and independent manners makes her an easy companion to appreciate.   If you’re looking for a cheerful walking partner, a backyard sunbather, and a sweet friend who knows the value of both playtime and downtime, Persimmon might be your perfect pick. Just keep both hands available for pets.
