Description
Maki-Ato! Your Pocket Heeler Is Ready for Her Next Adventure! Maki-Ato, a pint-sized personality with a big-dog spirit! Almost 3 years old and weighing just under 25 lbs, this adorable Heeler mix is affectionately known as a “pocket Heeler”—small enough to take just about anywhere, but packed with all the intelligence, playfulness, and personality you’d expect from her breed. Maki loves adventure, learning new things, and especially PLAYING with her dog friends! She has a special bond with her canine best friend, Miso, and loves to play hard with dogs she knows and trusts. She does well with dogs of similar size or larger once they've been properly introduced. Her ideal canine introductions involve walking together or meeting in an appropriate, dog-friendly setting where she can get comfortable at her own pace. Like many Heelers, Maki can be reactive when unfamiliar dogs approach her on leash, so she'll appreciate a person who understands her communication and can help her navigate those encounters. Maki is a smart cookie with plenty of party tricks up her sleeve! She's potty-trained, crate-trained, and knows her crate cue, “home.” In fact, her crate is one of her favorite places to relax. She's a quick learner who enjoys having a job, making her a great candidate for continued training, enrichment games, and adventures with someone who appreciates an intelligent, active dog. Maki can be wary of unfamiliar people entering her home. She needs thoughtful introductions, a little time, and people who respect her boundaries rather than expecting her to welcome every new face immediately. The good news is that she can settle comfortably in her crate when visitors arrive and can also learn to relax around newcomers when given appropriate space, guidance, and the chance to adjust at her own pace. Maki's ideal home: An adult home or a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand and respect canine boundaries. Maki is not a fit for a home with young children. She would love an active person or family who enjoys walks, playtime, training, and keeping a clever little dog mentally engaged. A compatible canine companion could be a wonderful bonus, provided introductions are handled thoughtfully, but the right match and environment matter most. Maki is spayed, fully vaccinated, potty-trained, and ready to start her next chapter. She's a whole lot of dog wrapped up in a compact, 25-pound package—and for someone who loves the special personality of a Heeler, she could be a very rewarding companion. Could Maki be your pocket-sized adventure buddy? ❤️ Age: Almost 3 years Weight: Just under 25 lbs Breed: Heeler mix Vetting: Spayed and fully up to date on vaccines Training: Potty-trained, crate-trained, knows “home” and plenty of fun tricks Dog compatibility: Enjoys playing with compatible dogs, especially similar-sized or larger dogs once properly introduced Children: No young children Personality: Intelligent, playful, active, affectionate with her people, and happiest with people who understand her Heeler traits For questions about Maki, please email Sadye at: sadye@doggieharmony.org To help us find the best match for both Maki and her future family, please complete an adoption application at www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption.
