Description
Backstory: Chazzy and Ollie are a gentle, bonded pair of 9-year-old brothers who are looking for a calm, loving forever home to spend their golden years. These handsome boys (Ollie sports a subtle white patch while Chazzy is solid black) joined Black Cat Rescue after losing their longtime owner, and they have been working hard to decompress in their foster home. While they are quite shy with new people, they are sweet-natured gentlemen who find immense comfort in each other’s presence and are slowly learning that the world is a safe, kind place. Almost 10 years ago Chazzy and Ollie were trapped outside along with their two sisters. The litter was on their own and getting a little too old (6 months or so) to compete with younger, more socialized kittens that year. The amazing woman who rescued them while working to help all of the cats in her community, decided to adopt all four of them. Sadly, Chazzy, Ollie and their sisters recently lost their lifelong person. Chazzy and Ollie are now looking for another amazing person to take a chance on two shy guys. How would you describe the cat's general personality? Chazzy and Ollie are very calm, enjoying each other's company in a quiet home. They prefer to stay in their hiding nooks when humans are around, but are slowly showing more personality in foster care as they play with each other when left to themselves. They have great manners in eating and using the litter box, and do not mind being pet every so often. Does the cat enjoy being pet? Chazzy and Ollie do not mind being pet, but they do not seek it out either. They will let their foster pet them from inside their cat tree and like being rewarded with treats! If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? For now, they have mostly been getting pets on their backs and across their body, though they have also begun to warm up to scritches near their neck as well. Does the cat come on your lap? No Does the cat like to be held? No Does the cat sleep in your bed? No (they have a separate room) Does the cat seek your attention? No – Chazzy and Ollie mainly stay to themselves, but with patience, they are slowly becoming more curious about humans. They will pop out of their hiding holes and sit in the room to observe their foster care volunteer from a distance. Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Chazzy and Ollie like to play with little mouse and ball toys by themselves, and the toys are often thrown about in various places from day to day. They do not play as much with their foster, and are not particularly interested in interactive games like string toys. How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Both cats are not super vocal and have not meowed much. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? If no, please explain. Neither cat has clawed at any furniture. They have a scratching post available to them, but their foster volunteer has not witnessed them use it. Does the cat always use the litter box? Chazzy and Ollie are great at using the litter box consistently and have great litter box manners. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Is the cat picky about food? What is the cat's favorite treat? Chazzy and Ollie require a specific prescription urinary diet to stay healthy, and both boys eat Rx urinary care diet to avoid urinary blockages. They have one can of wet food every day – half in the morning and half at night. They also free feed kibble and treats each day as well. Both have been very good about eating and drinking water consistently. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No. To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Chazzy and Ollie are pretty calm around new people, but continue to stick to their favorite nooks without being overly social. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Chazzy and Ollie love hanging out in a pillow fort of cat pillows and blankets, finding many nooks and crannies to chill out in! They often scurry about at night after getting fed, which is very cute to hear. In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Chazzy and Ollie are the perfect companions for someone looking to provide a quiet, patient sanctuary for two senior cats. They have made wonderful progress in foster care, rewarding their foster mom with soft purrs and slow, trusting blinks as they grow more comfortable with pets and human interaction. They are very low maintenance and can often take care of themselves very well, entertaining each other and taking comfort in each other’s presence.
