Adoption fee: $800 Meet Crochet: A Little Lovebug Who Will Have You in Stitches Crochet is a 1–2 year old, 9 lb Poodle mix who was rescued from the shelter with her sister, Macrame. With her epic eyelashes, flapping ears, and whole-body welcome wiggles, this little girl has been charming her foster family from day one. She’s sweet, affectionate, and capable of reaching some truly impressive speeds on those tiny legs. If you’re looking for a dog who brings both cuddles and comedy, Crochet has you covered. Love Is Her Favorite Hobby Crochet doesn’t believe in understated greetings. When her people return, she comes bounding over with her body wiggling and her ears flying, ready to be scooped up for kisses. Her joy is contagious—and she has plenty to share. She enjoys following her humans around the house, but she can also settle into a soft spot on the couch while you get things done. Sit down, though, and she’ll happily put you to work: back scratches, belly rubs, and face smooches are all approved activities. At night, she likes sleeping at the foot of the bed. Tiny Legs, Big Zoomies Crochet’s foster family usually starts the day around 6:30 a.m. with a potty trip, complete with sleepy stretches and yawns. Breakfast comes next, followed by another trip outside—and often the opening lap of the Crochet Grand Prix. She races around the yard, sometimes adding a lap through the house before heading back outside. Ears flap. Corners are taken. Top speeds are achieved. If the morning isn’t quite right for racing, don’t worry: she’ll find another time to fit it into her schedule. Between bursts of silliness, Crochet enjoys walks, naps, and toys. One of her signature moves is lying on her back and holding a toy with her paws while she mouths it. Poodle mix—or tiny undercover otter? We’re still investigating. A Go-With-the-Flow Companion Crochet is happy to adapt to her family’s routine. If you’re home, she enjoys tagging along through your day. If you head out, she’s comfortable staying loose in the house, snoozing or entertaining herself with toys. She can use a crate, although her foster family hasn’t needed one. Given the choice, she would happily join you for a car ride. She loves riding around and has already enjoyed successful outings to dinner, the hardware store, and the park. She’s still discovering the world beyond the shelter, and gentle exposure to new places is helping her build confidence. She’s also getting accustomed to the leash and walks nicely on it. Making Friends at Her Own Pace Crochet shared her foster home with a very timid dog, and the two soon became friends. They shared toys, were comfortable around food, and even teamed up for zoomies. With dogs outside the home, she sometimes takes a little longer to warm up, though she is generally interested and friendly. She arrived with an abscess on her chin/throat that the veterinarian suspected came from a dog bite, which may help explain her initial caution. She handled her veterinary visits and treatments very well and has healed from the injury. Crochet is excited to meet neighborhood people and dogs and is practicing quieter greetings. She may bark or grumble at activity outside the front window, and visiting cleaners aren’t her favorite guests. Patient introductions and rewards for calm behavior will help her keep learning. A Little Polish for This Poodle Mix Crochet is low-shedding, with a small amount of shedding noted in her foster home. Her coat needs brushing and regular professional grooming. Her groomer gave her a glowing report. She is doing well with housetraining when given regular reminders and trips outside. Long stretches between potty breaks can lead to an accident. She hasn’t shown destructive chewing or digging. She does like having a toy to hold in her mouth, so a well-stocked toy basket would certainly meet with her approval. Her Perfect Stitch in Life Crochet would love an affectionate family who enjoys a playful little companion, keeps up with her grooming, and helps her continue building confidence on outings and during introductions. A home without very young children would be the preferred fit. She has a lovely balance of playful energy and cozy companionship: ready for an adventure, happy to relax, and always delighted to see her people. With Crochet in your life, expect more kisses, more laughter, and the occasional tiny blur racing past the couch.
