Adoption fee: $650 Rotisserie: Golden Naps, Brindle Charm 10–12 months old | 18 lbs | Pug mix Rotisserie has a very important daily agenda: find a sunny spot, collect belly rubs, and determine whether it is time for another nap. The answer to that last question is usually yes. With her striking brindle coat, expressive eyes, and occasional sleepy tongue peeking out, this 18 lb Pug mix is quite the little dish. But her sweetest feature is how openly she loves people. Rotisserie doesn’t need a lengthy introduction before deciding you might be wonderful. Approach her kindly, and she may lie down, wag her tail, and invite you to rub her belly. Strangers on walks? Potential friends. People at the mall? More potential friends. Apparently, the world is full of people who have not yet had the pleasure of scratching her ears. Affection, Served Your Way Rotisserie is affectionate without needing to spend every moment in your lap. She enjoys being near her people, checks in for attention, and gazes into your eyes while you pet her as though she is taking your friendship very seriously. Then she may settle nearby for a snooze. She likes company, but she also appreciates having her own comfortable spot. During her first few days in foster care, she mostly slept and showed less interest in meals and walks. As she became comfortable, her curiosity and appetite began to emerge. She started exploring, playing, and feeling more secure about letting her person move around without following every step. Watching her settle into herself has been especially rewarding. A Very Flexible Menu Rotisserie wakes up when her foster does—no strict alarm-clock policy here. She heads outside for a potty opportunity, although she sometimes needs a little time before getting down to business. Breakfast arrives around 7:30 a.m., with a little yogurt or cottage cheese topping in her current foster home. After some backyard exploration or toy time, she is ready for her morning nap. A walk around 9 a.m. is welcome, but if her foster is busy, she is equally happy resting nearby. Lunch is around 1:30 p.m., followed by—you guessed it—another nap. Throughout the day, she enjoys visiting the backyard and occasionally snoozing in the sunshine. An evening neighborhood walk comes before her 7:30 p.m. dinner, and by about 9 p.m., she is generally sleeping soundly. After one last potty trip, she follows her family into the bedroom and settles down. At first, Rotisserie insisted on sleeping in her foster’s bed. More recently, she has been comfortable sleeping in her own bed beside it, a lovely sign of her growing confidence. A Pleasant Walking Companion Rotisserie walks nicely on leash and does not pull. In unfamiliar surroundings, she may pause to take things in before continuing. She has calmly passed other dogs, including dogs who were barking or reacting toward her. While at the shelter, she lived in a room with several other dogs and coexisted well with all. At the DPS Safehouse, she met our resident dog-savvy cat and was very polite to her. She does bark at cats when she sees them on walks but could be an option for a home with cats given proper introductions. House Manners, With One Surprise Talent Rotisserie has had no potty accidents in her foster home. She scratches at the backyard door to ask to go outside, although sometimes her request is simply for another lounging session. She is generally quiet, has not been digging, and enjoys short bouts of toy play between naps. She occasionally samples wooden furniture or plastic fixtures, but responds readily to verbal redirection. Appropriate chew toys and supervision will help her keep making good choices. Her Ideal Table for One Rotisserie could suit a variety of homes with people who enjoy an easygoing companion, gentle walks, a little play, and plenty of opportunities to rest. Her foster’s favorite thing is her wholehearted trust in people: the way she welcomes attention, looks into your eyes, and seems so pleased simply to share your company. If your idea of a perfect evening includes a sweet brindle girl snoozing nearby, Rotisserie is ready to make herself comfortable.
