Description
Lucky is a 2-year-old, 15-pound Beagle/Dachshund/Chihuahua mix who is looking for a new forever home through no fault of her own. Her family loves her very much, but after welcoming a newborn baby, they began noticing that Lucky was not happy and uncomfortable around the baby. This was an incredibly difficult decision for her family, but they recognize that keeping Lucky separated from the baby for much of the day would not give her the attention, companionship, and quality of life she deserves. They are hoping to find her a home where she can once again be the happy, snuggly, playful girl they know and love. Lucky was a wonderful companion. She is house-trained and crate-trained, does well on a leash, and enjoys a relaxed lifestyle. She loves burrowing under blankets, curling up on the couch or in bed, playing with her toys, getting treats, going for walks, and—most of all—being with her people. She is affectionate and friendly with strangers and loves getting attention and pets. She does sometimes jump up to greet visitors because she is so excited to say hello!Lucky also enjoys other dogs. She gets very excited when she spots a dog on a walk and will eagerly try to say hello, and she has done well living indoors with both small and large dogs while staying with a dog sitter. She is playful and could happily spend plenty of time playing with a canine friend.Lucky has not been around cats, so her feelings about feline friends are unknown. She has been friendly with young children she has encountered.Lucky would love a home where someone is looking for a devoted little companion to share their everyday life with. She doesn’t need an especially active household—she was perfectly happy with a more relaxed routine—as long as she receives plenty of love, attention, walks, playtime, and companionship. A home with another dog could be a great fit, and a household with older children may also be an option.Lucky is a sweet little dog who deserves the chance to start the next chapter of her life in a home where she can feel secure, loved, and included. We know her family is heartbroken to say goodbye, but they are doing what they believe is best for Lucky—and hoping her next family will love her just as much. Apply to adopt at BCAAofNJ.org.
