*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Meet Coral, a precious senior Pyr who came into rescue from a cruelty case where she had been used for breeding, and arrived in very rough shape. These days, she is enjoying the good life and showing everyone what a gentle, loving girl she truly is. Coral is housebroken, although she does have some stool incontinence due to sacro-lumbar disc disease. She is leash trained and loves taking slow, short walks - but be prepared to let this independent old lady choose the route, because Coral is wonderfully stubborn and prefers to walk wherever she wants while her person simply follows along! Coral has a low activity level and is happiest relaxing indoors with her people. She loves attention, face scratches, and being brushed, and she will usually be found in the living room keeping her foster family company. She is calm and quiet, with very little barking, and she has shown no reaction to meeting a new person on a walk. Coral currently lives peacefully with two large dogs. She mostly ignores them and prefers not to have dogs in her personal space, but she is excellent at politely retreating to her crate when she needs some alone time. She likes her crate and feels comfortable there, although she does not enjoy being closed inside. She could happily live with other dogs or be the one-and-only. Coral definitely prefers being inside, although she has one very important outdoor hobby: sleeping in the dirt under the deck! She can stay there for hours, completely ignoring all suggestions that she come back inside. She also has the cutest habit of doing silly little bouncy play bows to absolutely no one in particular. She may be an older lady with some mobility limitations, but she still has plenty of personality. She can manage only about three or four stairs and really doesn't enjoy them, so a home with minimal stairs would be ideal. And if you're wondering how to win her heart, a little whipped cream will certainly help - Coral loves most people food (though vegetables are definitely not on her menu)! Coral's ideal home would be a quiet, peaceful place, preferably with someone who is home much of the time. A 4-foot fenced yard would be wonderful, although she could also be perfectly happy as a leash-walk-only dog. Above all, Coral is looking for a family who will appreciate her slow, mellow pace and give her the comfortable, peaceful retirement she deserves. She is the sweetest, most gentle soul, and after everything she has been through, this beautiful old girl is ready to spend her senior years surrounded by love, soft beds, gentle attention, and people who will happily follow wherever her stubborn little paws decide to go! National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We have many Pyrs and Pyr mixes who need homes.
