Description
Located in Brooklyn NYC -Meet Yuzu! A sweet, affectionate girl with a gentle soul, a silly personality, and so much love to give.Yuzu is a 6-year-old, 27-pound South Asian Village Dog who was rescued from the streets of Kathmandu, Nepal. Before coming to the United States, Yuzu was known as an incredibly friendly dog in her neighborhood. She would often visit a local outdoor café, happily approaching people, making friends, and enjoying all the attention. From the very beginning, Yuzu has loved people and children and has always had a special way of connecting with those around her. What makes her wonderful: Yuzu is affectionate, gentle, silly, smart, and incredibly emotionally intuitive. She is a true companion dog who loves being close to her people and being included in everyday life. After coming to the United States, Yuzu spent six wonderful years with her family in California. She has lived in both a city with a backyard and a quieter beach town, and she has always enjoyed being part of family life.Yuzu loves cuddling, belly scratches, hiking, beaches, sunbathing, squirrels, lizards, and especially beach zoomies! She has a fun and playful side, but she is also perfectly happy relaxing beside her people. She is house trained, crate trained, comfortable being home alone, and has excellent house manners. She is very food motivated, knows her basic commands, and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement.Yuzu absolutely loves children and has successfully lived with several cats. She also enjoys the company of gentle, playful dogs she knows and trusts. She is a devoted little companion who wants nothing more than to feel safe, loved, and included in her family's everyday life. What She Needs: Yuzu would thrive in a quieter, peaceful environment where she doesn't have to constantly navigate the overwhelming stimulation of a busy city. Since moving to New York City, her family has realized that the loud noises, constant activity, and sheer number of dogs and people have been very difficult for her. The amount of stimulation has been overwhelming for her, and her family is concerned about her quality of life in this environment.Yuzu can be nervous around unfamiliar larger dogs, particularly when she is on leash. When she becomes overwhelmed or frightened, she may bark or lunge out of fear. This is something she has made meaningful progress with over the years through patience, positive reinforcement, and support. Her family believes she would be much happier in a quieter area with less dog traffic, access to nature, and ideally a yard.Yuzu needs someone who understands sensitive dogs and is willing to give her patience, consistency, and reassurance as she continues building confidence. She doesn't need a busy lifestyle—she needs a peaceful one. A home where she can enjoy walks in quieter areas, spend time outdoors, relax in her yard, and be close to her people would be ideal.Health: Yuzu is a happy and healthy girl, although her anxiety has increased since moving to the city, and she is currently on a full dose of anxiety medication to help her cope with the environment. Her family is seeking a home where she can experience less stimulation and hopefully enjoy a better quality of life. She has excellent house manners, is house and crate trained, and is comfortable being left home alone. Why we're rehoming her: This is an incredibly difficult decision for Yuzu's family because they love her very much. Yuzu has spent six happy years with them in California, and she has been a cherished member of their family. They have watched her grow, traveled through different environments with her, and know how loving and special she is.Unfortunately, since moving to New York City, they have realized that the busy urban environment is simply too overwhelming for Yuzu. The constant noise, activity, and high density of dogs have made it difficult for her to feel comfortable and relaxed. Her family doesn't want her to spend her life feeling overwhelmed, and they believe she deserves an environment where she can truly thrive. This decision isn't being made because Yuzu isn't loved. It's being made because she is loved enough for her family to recognize that she needs something different. They want to find someone who understands her sensitive nature and will give her the peaceful environment, patience, and companionship she deserves.Yuzu is looking for someone who wants a true companion—a dog who will hike with you, lounge in the sunshine, explore the outdoors, snuggle on the couch, and be right by your side through everyday life. She has already given her family six wonderful years of love, and now they're hoping to find her the quiet, happy forever home where she can enjoy many more.
